I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.

My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received. I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section. The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them." I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed. "How is it that? There's no work going on here?" I asked. "So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments." "How does one acknowledge God's blessings?" I asked. "Simple," the angel answered. "Just say, "Thank you, Lord"
"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.

"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep .. you are richer than 75% of this world."
"If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy."
"And if you read this, you are part of the 1% inthe world who has that opportunity."
Also"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness .....you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day."
"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you are ahead of 700 million people in the world"
"If you can attend a church meeting without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death .. you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world."
"If your parents are still alive and still married .. you are very rare."
"If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you are unique to all those in doubt and despair." The angel replied.
"Ok, what now? How can I start?"

If you have read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.
Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you want, pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

This is a very special email sent by a friend. And it reminded me that it didnt take a miracle to happen in our lives for us to thank God. In fact, if we are safe and healthy and have people who love us, it is already a miracle and one of the many MANY things God has blessed us with. So take the time everyday to thank God for all he has done and given us in our lives!

every sunday after service, you might have noticed a bunch of folks huddling in one corner just to give thanks to the Lord for a wonderful time with Him and with one another. it is where we hold our hands and hearts together one more time before we take off to face the week ... so when u see the sundayhuddle happening tis sunday again, dun just stand there ... Git into the huddle with us! :)

the problem with cliches are that because they are so overused, they somehow just lose their effect - no one bothers to take them seriously, leaving the real meaning behind some of these phrases rarely explored. if you think abt it, this can be really sad esp if the phrase has a much deeper meaning to it but is often not understood because people don't pay attention to it. the thing is, cliches are not the only victims of overuse...

as Chrisitans, we often come across the word "worship". some people use it to describe a part of a service such as in, "we usually have worship before the sermon." others use it to refer to certain types of songs such as in, "i like the slow worship songs." it is also often used to talk about which church you attend such as in, "where do you worship at?" and you kinda get the idea... the word "worship" tends to be so overused and somewhat misused, that many of us are forgetting what it really means...

well, you may ask, what does worship really mean then?

in Nehemiah 9:6 it says "You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You gave life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you." Worship in this passage is described as a respose to God for His greatness, love and His awesome gift of life. it's sorta like saying "thank you" when you recieve a present from someone. and it might help to remember that every moment we live and breathe is actually a gift from God... shouldn't it only be right that we use this gift well, thank Him for it and with it?

Romans 12:1(TEV) resounds this idea saying, "Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship you should offer."

whether it be helping out with something in school, the chores arnd the house, friends with their problems, to respecting those arnd you, choosing to be honest, trying not use certain words or even offering a smile to brighten up someone's day, these are all little acts of worship. remember, it's not so much of what you do or how you do it, but why you do it coz God looks at your heart... if you dedicate your thoughts, words and deeds to God as a response of what He's done for you, that's worship.

it's not so much of a music-style, but rather, worship is a life-stlye. in fact, it bothers me somewhat when people use the word "worship" interchangably with the word "music", such as in "worship ministry". this is coz worship is really so much more than just the music itself. yes, music can be used for worship and don't forget that musical talent is too, a gift from God, but music doesn't equal worship (and i don't think i even need to elaborate on that).

if you get where i am going, i'm trying to highlight that "worship team" does not just mean the people involved with the music and singing in church. rather, try to see it as an umbrella term for every single one who worships and wants to worship God for who He is and all that He's done. and just think about it, "worship team" is actually a very inclusive term. it is far from exclusive and a big "worship team" is really want we want the whole OC to become, not just a particular group of people. remember the cliche? TEAM : Together, EVERYONE Achieves More! in fact, just think abt it, this task of trying to include others to share in God's love could also be an act of worship in itself!

you see, my point here really isn't abt the use of the word "worship" or "worship ministry/team". rather, i hope that everyone will really individually as well as collectively consider the real meaning behind the word, what it means to be true worshippers and how we can apply little acts of worship in our lives so that we might do His will and make Him smile...

"Worship is giving God the best that He has given you."

And it's only the BEGINNING!
Shout about it!

I could put that picture of "Uncle Sam" pointing at you with the caption reading "We want you!", but that would be kinda corny (which is what we seem to be very good at, but that's not the point), but I think better not...cos there's some seriousness in this post of mine. Seriously. I mean it....Right.

Time Created

It's strange how God works mysteriously in your life, even when you least expect it. But when such a gift just drops at your lap, you can't help but just be so, so thankful...

As most of you know, I had this major 3500 word assignment. Even though it's due next wednesday, I knew that I had to finish, by hook or by crook, by the end of this week. Because next week I have another assignment coming up, and I definitely can't manage with 2 simultaneously. So from monday to wednesday, I've been sitting on the chair in front of the comp, letting my butt grow big, as I research intensively online, read all the books I borrowed from the library, trying to make sense of the different information and the most difficult part of all, trying to piece all of them together to form a coherent essay. It is tough work. I told myself I had to finish by wednesday, but wednesday came and went, and it was still uncompleted. Sigh. Thursday was supposed to be my meeting with my mentee, so I would usually go down to the school in the afternoon to visit her. In that sense, time would have been lost. But to my surprise, early this morning, she called me to say that she was not well, and had to meet next week instead. On one hand I was concerned about her illness, yet on the other, it really felt like my time had suddenly expanded! I mean, all this while I was panicking whether I can finish my assignment in time, when an unexpected call can do so much wonders for me! And yeah, through another day of researching and plouging through the net, I finally came through. I finally finished my assignment.

It may seem like a small thing, but somehow it's just such an unexpected and lovely surprise that you can't help but feel that someone out there is actually monitoring and controlling your life. Someone knows your needs, and someone actually does provide for you, in ways you least expect.

Never forget to continually thank that special someone.

Near Miss

Today my mom came THIS close to having her skull punched in.

She closed the door and heard a loud crash, and there, mere inches from her feet, lay a shattered lamp.

Talk about a near miss.

christerng came back to vist us! heh! and has helped out in the camp comm's skit scriptwriting. thank you! glad to see you back (:

these were my new frens i made before OC! say HELLO!!!! hehe...

.:: a quick shout out ::.

For God.

hey peeps.

thought i'll share some stuffs we talked bout today.
today was really fun. we had this AWESOME time of spirit-filled sharing and worshipping and just praising the lord. (:

firstly, heres what uncle pong told us about sacrificing. defination? to give more than our limits and what we have. With Our HEARTS and desire of wanting to give. yes. sometimes we come to church, for ? hmm... yes, some just want to worship the lord, know his word, some... cause they were dragged by their parents!!! hahas. *winkx winkx* but, ultimately... guys, what jesus has done for us is truly like no other. who would die for strangers? who would not get angry for someone who betrayed him? and who would forgive wholeheartedly what that person has done?

Jesus did! (: Sometimes i wonder if i can ever pay back what he has given us... By offerings i've tried... But only to find he has given back so much more. Trying to do many other stuffs... spreading the gospel, giving a smile, using the gifts he's given me to touch others. yes... but only to realize that He gives back more. Be it a fun-filled time spent with family or frens, be it just with our grades, competition, etc. We really cannot give back what he's given us. Although we try hard to return him all he has done for us, even if its from the deepest of our hearts... The love he gives cannot be measured or compared. and for that, i thank him... thats the only thing i can say.

Trying from the deepest of my heart, i know that words carry sometimes so much more significence [aiyah, dont know how to spell] than some of our actions we do that we secretly do unto others without telling them that it comes from our hearts. In hope that they would know why we do so... as an act of thanks.

The truth is, sometimes, not all our actions are seen by our friends/family. Which i bet is quite disheartening at times.

But God does see your heart... and not only that. The response you give/show him through our actions is an action of sacrifice and thanksgiving and praise. (: Though those around us may not see how our actions-expressions "Action speaks bigger than words" but theres one person im certain who does. Thats God.

Secondly, Uncle pong challenged us to NOT hang out with your clique for the 10-15min before and after OC. Instead open your eyes big big in search of those whom you have yet talked to or seen in OC. YES!!! God has placed a chance for you to get to know others and to spread the gospel, reach out to others, and bring them into the kingdom of God. Heh.... As uncle pong said "Once a vister walks out of the church without anyone having to follow-up/feel homey... That window-chance God has given us has been shut." [my interpretation of his short short sentence... hahas]

Thats true. Imagine walking into Macdonals. Look around you, how many do you know are christians? How many has yet to know the good news, the truth. As each day passes, how many people die without knowing and accepting God? How many ETERNAL DEATHS are there? As each second pass, as each day pass, the guy/girl sitting beside you in class may die without knowing God... [choy!!! touch wood]

We sometimes get too caught up in chasing God, we sometimes only care about OUR ETERNAL LIFE with God... However, what does God truly want? Expansion of His kingdom, more people to know him, more people to accept him in response of his love, more people to obey him. How long are we gonna wait? By the time we wait for the courage to speak, one person may be gone during the period of us searching for our courage. Every opportunity gone, who knows if there would ever be a next? So guys, dont wait. Its now or never... (:

Let's try this out kay? For God. (:

.:: He deserves all praise ::.

house agendas:

tagboards- let me explain why there's 2 tagboards, the first tagboard is our prayer request board. so all your prayer request goes there. the second tagboard which is the super duper long one is where all your tags about everything/anything else goes.

chatroom- in case you pop in the chat room and find there's no one inside, and you end up talking to out to yourself. i'm sure you'll be pleased to inform there's always a pool inside every night chatting, you can join us at that time (: and uh, once again, the chatroom button is the coffecup button on the right.

i think i'm gonna let this float for a while, just something to reflect on, if you have any suggestions on things we could improve on or do to get to know one another, you can bring it up (: we're always open to that.

a person: you guys always say that you want the entire oc down, but really, you guys dont reaally seem to care about us during service.. just mixing around in your own little "worship clique".

chris: Give us some time. There're more of you than there are us. One step at a time. One person at a time. Sorry to be slow in getting to you. If only you could tell us who you are, we can cut the queue and reach out to you sooner...

cheryl: i'm soooo really sorry, but that isn't true, the worship team started with just musicians, but those who have actually come downed on sat to join us later on sats, stayed on with us (: and i'm sure we must have given them a reason to stay on.

cheryl: we've since grown twice our size. a person, have you actually given us that chance to allow us to get to know you? cause' as chris said, there's so many of you guys, if you don't give us a chance, it's kinda difficult 4 us to go round everybody personally

cheryl: frankly speaking, i think the term worship team is being used wrongly here, we're just a bunch a people who want to show our love for god more than through music but through our hearts (:

pew: It takes two to tango. My advice to most people, including the adults of our church is: Don't wait for others to approach you, approach them instead. Take the first step and you will notice how much difference that little step can make. Give it a try.

pew: Will be praying for you "a person" and those going through the same struggle. Even though we have no idea who you are...My Boss, God knows and I will leave it to Him to do the necessary. Hang in there!

pong: cherz is right. join us. we luurvve u!

Yo! its the dae of the gathering. i can feel it. the Spirit is strong. 1pm folks. be there. and yes, bring new friends. while this was started by the worship team, it is not just for the worship peeps. we WANT all of OC to come on down!

btw, pastor goose will be one of the worship leaders on sun. i think he's all ready to explode. people. sat we prep. sun we rawk!!!

Small Miracle
Wednesday, September 14, 2005

This is the first time I've blogged in AGES. Like...3 years or something.

I used to think that miracles were the big things, like the way He multiplied 20 peanut butter and jam sandwiches (no, i'm not making this up, it really happened) to feed 200 starving people. Or smaller things, like the way our hearts just keep beating. (good thing huh)

Nope, today i got a miracle in a tiny but significant way.

So in school we were checking our CCA records, and basically, for the benefit those under the new (and sucky) LEAPS CCA system, this is the gist of the old system: if you get 6-8 points you can deduct one miserable point off your L1R5 score in the Os. If you get 9 and above, you can deduct a whopping TWO points off. I really wanted to get the two deducted points...i mean, who doesn't?

Today the sheet of paper said 8 points.

I was so frustrated and started to whine to my friends. Sick of my griping, (I'll bet my life on that) they told me to go check with Mr Ng (PE teacher) to make sure everything is in there. So I lined up and prayed, telling God that I needed this deduction to help me get into ACJC (btw guys, the cutoff is 9 or 10 points for both arts and science streams) or wherever.

Mr Ng checked, and, as I had prayed, the system WAS broken and left out four entries! So now i can have two points deducted from my O level score.

My prayer was answered, and this really proves that God DOES listen. There you have it. =)

A little respect...
Tuesday, September 13, 2005

Hey guys!

I thoroughly enjoyed Sun's game! Heard you guys won something and Mel went up to receive the prize...Yup, saw her GRINNING like a monkey while going up and then lifting the hamper up in the air! So proud of you'all! I wished I had played in the same team...sorry Cherns & I got put into a team with some friends...

Anyways, there's something I'd like to say...on behalf on Cherns actually.
I hope it doesn't spoil your moods, but I too think it is important and it is better to say it immediately instead of waiting till long after....

Here goes:
Cherns & I were sitting right behind all of you during sermon on Sunday and we were in full view of all of OC youths in that corner! The thing is...we saw quite a number chatting, laughing & going off to the bathroom, while the sermon was being preached. It was distracting. I admit I was drawing my (Beautiful) tie for myself, which meant I wasn't paying too much attention to the sermon (which I had heard just a day before at MYLC), but at least I was not distracting others, you know what I mean? So, the thing is...let us youth show a little respect for the preacher. Also, for the rest of the congregation seated around, who want to listen. Don't talk & giggle out loud and cause others to lose their concentration. It can be quite frustrating...

Let's be known as youths who want to listen and learn what God's Word has to say to us! Yeah?

relationship issues
Wednesday, September 07, 2005

Hey guys!

I just want to add on to what Chris mentioned in her post below...

though i'm like all the way here in Sydney, i have still managed to keep in touch with a number of ppl from the OC and have constantly been talking to them abt what's happening up there. anyway, i must really say that some of these people are really trying very hard not to exclude anyone or make anyone feel let out. really, when i talk to some of them, i sometimes feel so sorry for them because these mates of yours really really want to get to know you and include you in the things that they do. but, it's just not possible because as Chris mentioned, you outnumber them! and it's really unfair to them if i don't mention this, because they have actually taken it upon themselves to shoulder this huge burden: to try and make everyone feel belonged and loved by the OC. they are really trying and i can tell that it's pouring from their hearts. but the magnitude of this goal just requires everyone to put in some effort as well...

think about it this way... our very existance is based on relationships. Jesus captured the significance of theTen Commandments in Exodus, summing it up in the two greatest commandments, found in Matthew 22:36-40. They are in order, "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind," and, "love your neighbour as yourself." And what do the both of them talk about? relationships! yes, not only relationships with each other, but a relationship with God as well - that's what life and life eternal is all about!

i'm sure all of us want to go to heaven, but have any of you thought abt who we're gonna be there with? sure, there'll be God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with all the angels, but have you ever considered that you're gonna be in heaven with the very people you're on earth with right now? like that's what our relationships with each other are supposed to be - brothers and sisters through Christ. the thing is, why wait until you get to heaven to enjoy what God has planned for us in the form of relationships with each other? NOW is the time everyone of us should get involved in loving and caring for each other...

again, ask yourselves another question by putting in the context of our spiritual lives. Jesus is always there trying to get to us and our hearts. and esp in the face of sin and temptation, have you ever turned your head to see how hard He's trying to tug at you? a lot of times, and i admit it myself, we conveniently forget abt how Jesus is always by our side, even when bad things happen. and we usually find ourselves giving into selfish, negative and destructive thoughts and behaviours. in this case, it may be thinking that you'll never fit in, but that's actually not true! and as with all the other tricks the devil plays on us, the truth is usually shaded from us. and every case, it mostly boils down to whether we can or even want to remember that Jesus is always there to help us through. remember the love He showed us on the cross... He took the first step in trying to have a complete relationship with us. what should our response to that be?

well, okay. i think i've sorta loaded you with really heavy stuff. but i hope you see how everything fits in together...

i really do hope that those who feel left out will take steps to get and know others as well. like make it easier on everyone. a simple smile, handshake or "hello" maybe all that's required to start finding yourself having so much fun. and even if it doesn't or didn't hit off right the first few times, keep at it too! you know you'll be rewarded for your faithfulness.

one more thing. i would also personally like to get to know more of you as well... even with the distance, thank God for technology! my email address is firstjuly@gmail.com or you could add me on msn at chanshenhan@hotmail.com like, i just thought i'd lead by example as well. haha. yes. please have a think abt what i've written. esp that part with our spiritual lives because we all do face the same problems as well. and if you feel like talking abt anything, don't hesistate to email me aight? haha (:

God bless!

Church Anniversary Captain's Ball (:
Monday, September 05, 2005

anyway i just got a message from daren that both our OC teams (my team and priscilla's team) need to decide on our team colours! so it's 2 different colours we need to decide on :
and the bad thing is that we CANNOT have- navy, maroon, blue, white, green, orange, yellow, red! :(

haha knowing all of us indecisive youths, we're going to take forever to get this settled and daren didn't give a specific deadline either BUT let's try to get this done A.S.A.P okay? (: (:

That feeling of being left out...

...sometimes creeps into our minds...
"They belong to a group I'm not part of..."
"I won't fit in..."
"I'm an extra...why should I go and make myself feel unwanted?"
That horrible feeling of being "LEFT OUT"...

I know how it feels. Yes, surprise, surprise...coming from me...Chris...
Many a times, I feel that I'm not able to contribute the way so many people, especially those in the worship team, can. I can't play any instruments well enough to be put on worship duty; I can't sing well enough to be put on backup singing duty; I can't this...I can't that. I can only be an EXTRA!
Moreover, the worship team is...THE WORSHIP TEAM. I'm sooooo not part of that group.

Well, I guess we can't help feeling like that sometimes. But I've just found out something that I'd like all those who feel so "out of it" know. They ARE trying their best! To make us feel loved, to make us feel belonged...
A card to say hello...
A phone call to ask how's it going...
An invitation to Sat's meetings...
A smile...
But there's only so much they can do. It's true...
Count the number of them...VERSUS...the number of us...
The ratio's probably a shocking 1:5! And with say, 15 of them, there're another 75 of us???

I think those of us who feel left out should be less sensitive and should not allow the "Spirit of offence" enter out hearts and say that "so and so" are being insensitive about us. Instead, we should allow ourselves to be more sensitive to their numbers and the love they they are trying so hard to give to us...just perhaps, little by little...slower than our hearts expect, BUT eventually...

So, let's make things easier. For them, for us...
Let's Join them on Saturdays. They have something to share and we probably have something to offer...

this one's for ash, his 10 year old brother wrote an eulogy for mr and mrs drumsticks.

our beloved Mr. & Mrs. Drumstick.
On a Friday in 2005, they passed away. It was hard for us to let them go but today they are in a greater world. They were a good couple as you all know. They helped needy people like Asher. They played through thick and thin times, guiding him towards a greater talent. May they rest in peace. Amen.

isn't this lil guy smart (:

transformed into his likeness

hey y'all!

how's everyone going? i must say how encouraged i am to hear abt all the great stuff which has been happening within the OC! it really delights me to hear abt all these wonderful things continually coming in and i do hope you share the same joy as i do (:

like what Chris tagged, "Well done guys! From a blog to prayer request, to worship, to journals, to prayer meetings!" there is just SO MUCH happening at the moment and the growth we are experiencing is just amazing!

just think back to the beginning of the year and i'm sure it'll be evident how far the OC's come in such a short period of time. i believe this is the result of a combined effort from everyone, especially our Lord Almighty. if you're reading this now, i really do encourage you to just stop at this point and really thank Him for all the blessings He's poured out on the OC and everyone who's part of it. yes, now!

and if you didn't, i pray that you will - to acknowledge His power, without which there wouldn't be such blessings! i was just reading the Bible a while ago when i came across this verse which i thought would be good sharing with everyone:

"Whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." 2 Cor 3:16-18

for you guys know that there's still a lot more to come - blessings that are just wating to flow over us - i just pray that each and every one of us will continue to "turn to the Lord" for every need. such that by acknowledging Him in every area in our lives, we will all be "transformed into his likness," radiating His glory, so that everyone around us may see and wonder at our joy, which comes through Him. yeah? hide under that "veil" no longer, THIS is the time for which you have come!

the reason why i've emphasised "ever-increasing" is so that that we might be reminded that there is always more to come. and that the more we continue in faith, encouraging one another, the more the blessings we shall see! also, keep in mind, the greatest blessing would probably have to be "being transformed into his likeness" in itself, and that's something we should all really help each other pray for...

yup! and you know, if you aren't involved with anything as yet, i do welcome and encourage you to come participate! come have a chat and find out what there is... and if you still don't know what's for you, come along to one of the prayer meetings and we could pray for that too! remember, God looks at our hearts and a desire to serve Him already puts a smile on His face (:

.: This Saturday....

Hey ppl!

We're still meeting this saturday - 1430h at the dance studio. Be there!

hey, in addition to what cheryl wrote:

today when we had our little gathering, ash and lauren agreed that the OC blog was really enthu! hehe. thank you ALL for making this happen. without you guys coming in to tag and post comments and checking out other of the oc-sians blogs... it totally wouldnt happened.

heya peeps, we had a jamming session today! a few of us met up today to pray for the one community. and we're gonna keep having prayer meetings regularly. we'll post up details when there's one, anyone is welcome to join us. (:

besides that, we're gonna start keeping a prayer journal and jot down the things we prayed abt/the people who were present, be it a prayer request or thanks giving. it's just our way of showing love for one another (: we're one big happy family. so, there will be a prayer request box by the door every sunday morning, feel free to drop us a note if you want us to pray abt something/someone, you may even include pictures (:

okay, it was black at 9.00, we're going black!
