We Almost Lost one ... :)

Deb gave me a note after our Sat meeting ... i mean she wrote the note and just stuck in my guitar fret boards i was still playing ... sigh ... anywaz, got to read it only after i got back home. it was very very encouraging. well, i got her permission to reprint here.

"Uncle Pong and Worship Team, ya know i had actually considered changing church because the OC was so dead (i thought ... haha) and that it felt so, so discouraging to come in week after week and see less people and such a tiny bunch of us sec 4s. But i told myself its time to get out of here. But i dont know what made me decide to come (to the Sat meeting) and just hang out. Thanks guys. It's awesome to see how the worship team has become and ... yeah!"

People, we almost lost one. Deb's note simply tells us what we choose to do with our lives and how we live it will infinitely impact someone else. Lets continue to honour the Lord with our lives. In word. In deed. In thought.

It was awesome today at ONE worship. And yes, shawn almost killed me too :)

shining like stars in the universe
Monday, August 22, 2005

Hey everyone!

I just wanna applaud one and all for the effort you've put into Youth Sunday. no matter what your role was, however big or small, you can be sure that if you did it with all your heart, God is pleased. and i'm sure no amount of recognition from anyone else in the world now could compare to the acknowledgement you shall recieve from God Himself when that day comes. so, as 1 Cor 1:31 says "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord," be proud of what you've done for Him! (:

yup yup! and i just wanna say that your jobs are not done just coz Youth Sunday's over. continue to shine like stars in the universe. and not only in church but in school and at home as well. it's always easier to be good and godly when with people at church, but the real challenge is when you're in the company of non-believers. live for Jesus such that all around you might see the good works He has done in your life, just as you have done for Youth Sunday. and at the end of it all, you shall see the rewards He will bless you with - more abundant than anything you could ever wish for or imagine. don't be discouraged if you don't think you really made a difference at Youth Sunday or anything. remember, God looks at your heart and...

No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him

1 Cor 2:9
so yes, don't lose heart. continue to pray for each other as i shall for you, that we might strengthen and encourage each other for the glory of Christ.

continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. Phil 2:12-16

Thank you for a great Youth Sunday!
Sunday, August 21, 2005

Hi guys,

I'm not used to posting on blogs...
but here's a quick word.

Thank you for being part of Youth Sunday and for making it an awesome worship experience.

I believe the adults aprreciated your efforts and but more importantly God appreciates you for your labour of love.

May this Youth Sunday be just a small glimpse of what the OC will do for God in the future.

Hope you guys have a great week with God ahead.

a compilation of all the photos we took over the last couple of weeks

remember your Creator in the days of your youth - Ecc 12:1

hey guys!

i just wanna say that i'm really excited that Youth Sunday's coming up so soon and i hope all of you have been praying abt it too! you know, i think that Youth Sunday is really really important and that it's time we all got really passionate for it, if you haven't already. not only are we celebrating the OC's first "birthday", but also the life and the energy that God has blessed as with as young people. it is about showing everyone the mighty works of His hand in our generation through whatever we are doing. whether it's greeting people, handing out the offering bags, leading in song, playing music, reading scriputre, sharing or even just smiling at people or saying a simple prayer for everything to go smoothly, remember that He will certainly honour you, if you are faithful in using whatever you have to bless Him. (Matthew 25:21)

anyway, i remember for Youth Sunday two years back, Audrey Tang, the uber drummer, shared with us something which i would like to share with all of you as well... she first questioned what we wanted to see happening in our church. and i think it's something which might be worth your while thinking about, esp since YOU have been given the chance to make a difference on Youth Sunday. don't you want to see people so blessed by your energy and liveliness that they will realise how God can work in such wonderful ways in their own lives too? don't you want to see people worshipping God for the awesome Lord that He is, because of what they've seen Him done in you?

well, Audrey made us take a look at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 18. basically a public demonstration of power was staged between Baal with 450 of his prophets and the Lord Almighty with Elijah. Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal, "call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire - he is God." so, in front of people from all over Israel, two seperate bulls were prepared and put on wood for the God to prove himself. the prophets of Baal thus shouted and screamed for their god to send fire, even slashing themselves with swords and spears for Baal to hear them! but from morning till evening, the loud cries from 450 of Baal's prophets were met with no reply. seeing this, Elijah prepared an altar for the Lord, asking for water to be poured over the wood so that everything was soaked up. he then prayed, "O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so that you, O Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again." Then fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, "The Lord - he is God! the Lord - he is God!" (1 Kings 18:36-39)

now, what you have to understand here is that these people had all drifted far from God, believing in the prophets of Baal. however, that day when they saw the fire from God, they all fell prostrate and worshipped God. why? because they saw with their own eyes how powerful God was, consuming everything with His fire. though the wood had been soaking with water, God proved to be greater than that problem, in the same way God is greater than all of the problems in our lives. and that if we really live for God, having a passion burning to serve Him, He can make us like His fire so that when people witness what He has done in our lives, they too will fall to the ground in worship and in praise, proclaiming that HE is God.

so, what say you? with the hours counting down to Youth Sunday, it is time to make a commitment to God. are you willing to serve Him and let His fire work through you? this is one BIG chance to bless people around you by showing them how God is working through you, even through the little things... don't say you don't think you can make a difference, coz you know God's put you where you are for a purpose. like you'd never know how a smile or even a "hello" might turn someone's week around - God can and will work through you in the smallest ways if your heart is willing to serve Him. and i think God would really love to hear you out on this...

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Tim 4:12

short annoucement for de worship team.

we're bringing forward the practise this sat.
musicians will meet at 1pm
and the rest of the singers at 2pm.

over the last week seeing you guys support and encourage each other, was really heartwarming. just wanted to share this song with you guys.

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged though I realise
It's so hard to take courage
In a world for the people
You can lose sight of it
And the darkness inside you
Makes you feel so small

I see your true colours shining through
Your true colours, that's why I love you
Don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colours, true colours
How beautiful, like a rainbow

Give us a smile
Don't be unhappy, can't remember when
I last saw you laughing
This world can make you crazy
When you take in all that you can
When you call me up
You know I'll be there

I see your true colours shining through
Your true colours, that's why I love you
No, don't be afraid, just let them show
Your true colours, true colours
How beautiful, like a rainbow

And I last see you laughing

I see your true colours, shining through
Your true colours, that's why I love you
Don't be afraid, no, you let them show
Your true colours, true colours
They are beautiful like a rainbow

a wonderful friendship we have, to cherish. rock on people.

Another email to share with you guys (: especially to char- we'll all be praying for you so please stay strong and remember that everything happens for a reason! God has a definite plan and purpose for each and every one of our lives and there are bound to be obstacles..

I recall one of the services I attended at the adult's side before joining you guys at OC when pastor gordon sang a song while strumming the guitar and went something like- "Don't you fret now child, please don't worry. The rain is to help you grow, so don't try to hurry the storms. The hard times make you strong"

So please stay strong dear. Cause God loves you and so does the OC! (:

Anyway here goes the email-

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong and the children are slow getting dressed and you can't seem to find the car keys and you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated.

After Sept. 11th, I happened to call a man on business whom I didn't know and haven't nor will probably ever talk to again. But on this particular day, he felt like talking. He was the head of security for a company that had invited the remaining members of another company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space.

With his voice full of awe he told me stories of why these people were alive and their counterparts were dead. In the end, all the stories were just about the little things that happen to us. You might know, the head of the company got in late that day because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book. The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work, but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone...all the little things that annoy me... I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying things.

national day.

Take some time off just thinking how merciful the Lord has been to us. Giving us such a wonderful country. Safe, Clean, Prospering day by day... What more can we really ask for? :) Take some time off thanking him for everything he's given. Sometimes we pray, but our prayers are filled with requests and wants. Take some time off thanks-giving. Giving him all the praise and glory he deserves, for he is Lord. Lifting up our country to him, our upcoming presidential elections, marketing prospects, etc. HAPPY 40th NATIONAL DAY :)

received this in the mail some time back. thought it was rather meaningful so i decided to share it here (: take care and have a blessed weekend yall <3

Here's a message that will bring you chills.

Have you ever felt the urge to pray for someone and then just put it on a list and said, "I'll pray for them later?" Or has anyone ever called you and said, "I need you to pray for me, I have this need?"

Read the following story and may it change the way that you may think about prayer and also the way you pray. You will be blessed by this.

A missionary on Furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan.

"While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point.

On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine and supplies, and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital.
Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord.

I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident. Two weeks later I repeated my journey. Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines.

He said, 'Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into our camp, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards.'

At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite. The young man pressed the point, however, and said, 'No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.'

At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened. The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted told him this story:

"On the night of your incident in Africa, it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you. Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?"

The men who had met together to pray that day stood up. The missionary wasn't concerned with who they were, he was too busy counting how many men he saw.

There were 26.

This story is an incredible example of how the Spirit of the Lord moves in mysterious ways. If you ever hear such prodding, go along with it. Nothing is ever hurt by prayer except the gates of hell.

If we all take it to heart, we can turn this world toward God once again. As the above true story clearly illustrates, "with God all things are possible" More importantly, how God hears and answers the prayers of the faithful.

After you read this, please pass it on and give God thanks for the beautiful gift of your faith, for the powerful gift of prayer, and for the many miracles He works in your own daily life.

We try to keep God in church on Sunday mornings,
Maybe, Sunday nights...
And, the unlikely event of a midweek service.
We do like to have Him around during sickness...
And, of course, at funerals.
However, we dont have time, or room, for Him during work or play...
Because... Thats the part of our lives we think... We can, and should, Handle on our own.

May God forgive me for ever thinking...
That... there is a time or place where..
He is not to be FIRST in my life.

Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father."

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work.
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped off my knees.
My christian duty was now done,
My sould could rest at ease
All day long I had no time,
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to my friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constand cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord, I came, I stook with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book; the book of life.
GOd look into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

well, i guess some of you might think, he'll forgive me, he loves me so, so who cares?
this i must tell you my friends, God is not only the creator, he also is a Righteous and Judgeful judge. He gave us life, gave us a purpose and existence in life, a mission. at the end of life's journey, have you completed your mission? In turn of him giving us life, we cant always just put the words " I am a christian " by your mouth, you got to learn to trust him and be faithful.

even if you do say he'll forgive you, how can he if you do not spend the time confessing your sins? a hurried prayer? confessing of sins... are you not guilty? do you not feel ashamed?

my dear friends, i pray a special prayer for each and everyone of us that God may allow us and teach our self discipline for in every area of our life, whatever we do, may it please Him. Amen.

YEs, I do love God,
He is my source of existence and Savior.
HE keeps me functioning each and every day.
Without Him, I will be nothing.
But, with Christ, HE strengthens me.
[Phil 4:13]
